Description #

These instructions are for CoFlex, CoFlex Med, CoFlex NL, and CoFlex LF2. CoFlex cohesive bandage is a cohesive elastic wrap constructed from nonwoven material and elastic fibers. The cohesive properties allow the wrap to stick to itself but not to other materials or skin. The product may contain natural rubber latex. It is supplied non-sterile.

Indications for Use

CoFlex cohesive bandage is intended for use as an elastic wrap to compress, support, or secure primary dressings or devices.

Contraindications

None known.

Precautions & Warnings

  • CoFlex self-adherent wrap will not slip or loosen after application. Do not wrap too tightly to avoid impairing circulation and potentially causing serious injury.
  • Monitor the area frequently (no less than every 24 hours) for signs of swelling, discoloration, pain, numbness, tingling, or other changes in sensation. If these symptoms occur, remove wrap immediately and contact your healthcare provider.
  • Do not place CoFlex cohesive bandages in direct contact with an open wound because it may lead to infection.
  • When used as a component in a compression wrap system, it is important to ensure adequate arterial blood flow to avoid injury secondary to decreased circulation.
  • CoFlex cohesive bandage should be used as a component of a compression wrap system only under the supervision of a wound care specialist.
  • Do not reuse. CoFlex cohesive bandage is a single-use product.

Directions for Use #

General Instructions:

  1. The CoFlex family of bandages will not loosen or tighten over time, therefore you should wrap the bandage at the desired tension and compression.
  2. Upon completion of wrapping, grasp the bandage between fingers and remove the stretch-hand-tear or cut the bandage to the desired length. Relax the last 2 inches of bandage and then press down.
  3. Seal the end of the bandage wrap with your finger, lightly meshing the top of the bandage into the bottom layer. This will provide long-lasting power.

 

 

Removal/Disposal

CoFlex bandages may be removed by unwrapping or with bandage scissors.

Storage

For best results, store CoFlex bandages in their original packaging at room temperature until use. Avoid excessive heat and humidity. Refer to the label on each box for the expiration date.

Depending on the specific application for which it is being used, different compression levels of the bandage will be needed. You control the desired tension level. Once wrapped, the bandage will not loosen or tighten and will remain secure.
