Clinical Study on Two-Layer Compression Options

A study out of the UK compared AndoFlex®* TLC Calamine and Coban2®** for patient comfort and preference (related to the degree of itchiness) and pruritus symptomology.

Open-label, randomized, multicenter crossover trial assessing two-layer compression bandaging for chronic venous insufficiency: results of the APRICOT trial

Compression bandaging is the mainstay therapy for chronic venous insufficiency and venous leg ulcers, but patient compliance can be challenging due to associated discomfort. This clinical study conducted and published in BJCN assessed two-layer compression with and without Calamine to determine patient preference.

CoFlex® TLC Calamine was compared with the standard of care (SOC) for patient comfort and pruritis symptomology. This was a multi-center, prospective, non-blinded, randomized controlled crossover trial involving 39 randomized patients with chronic venous insufficiency. No significant differences in validated pruritis outcomes were measured, however 60% of patients preferred CoFlex® TLC Calamine.
